Cleaning up the HoodMay 3rd, 2012 |
Today I woke up to the sounds of trailers and trucks working in the area close to our house, taking a look outside was a great sight, a home that had been vacant for the past year and before that a home to a women with over 30 cats living there was been taken down today. In the first steps of a few new town homes going on the lot. The kids and I watched as a huge Caterpillar excavator took apart this house and made it’s way into the backyard to tackle the front half of the house.
Here is just one of the images I snapped through the process, I will be posting more and as following the rebuild of the new homes.

The Sliver Line Group is working on the removal of the house along with Emterra Group that will sort and recycle the waste.

The Stremcha Family ~Niagara Family PhotographerApril 19th, 2012 |
I met Mia, Adam and Sam just before Sam came into this world back in the summer. This was their first trip to the studio as a family and it was enjoyable working with you three! Sam had some ideas of his own on how the session would go, but we worked through it and made some amazing images. Enjoy and can’t wait to have them back again before Christmas.

I have decided to start to show you how simple it is to make images. I will not go into huge lighting setups or make you have to go out an buy all the gear because you look cooler with it all. These courses will be simple setups will be very simple and easy to do.
Today I did was a simple child’s head shot, I shot the below image with a nice big window and a piece of foam core to the folder in half as you can see below. My studio is in my house, all of my studio work is done in my living room with one or two light setups or natural light.
My model Madelaine sat in the fold of my foam core as you can see by this image:
The reason I used a folded piece of foam core is so I could use all that nice soft window light to bounce back into the shadow side of her face and under her chin, if I wanted to give this same image a more dramatic or low key look I could have just used the foam core behind her and that would have increased the contrast on her shadow side.
With limited space I used my Tamron 90mm 2.8 set to f4 as I wanted her eys to be sharp but I like the fall off towards the back of the image. I have had this lens for over 15 years and have dropped it beat it and smashed in against the ground pretty good and it still is working really well.
What else can I say, pretty simple inexpensive setup with a great result, always have fun with kids and talk to them and make them smile it makes your images.
